Dalmore has been our home for over twenty-four years and it has been an honour to care for this very special place. We have so much love for its velvety hills, deep creek beds and rocky vistas. We have built our family, with all of its two and four-legged members, over the years and as we have watched our children grow and our land flourish, we have felt a strong pull to share Dalmore with others.

1890’s

The land at Dalmore was farmed by the Scott family (originally from Hawick, Scotland) from 1890’s. In the late 1890’s, Robert Scott carved Dalmore Farm out of the larger property for his younger brother, William Purdom Scott (WP Scott).
The Modern Age 1901-1945:

In the first half of the 20th century, Dalmore became one of the biggest apple producing farm in the SW. It had hundreds of apple and pear trees as well as stone fruit orchards of all types and, of course, livestock. The pear trees remain today and produce heirloom varieties of fruit no longer available on store shelves. Dalmore was also a successful tourist attraction, due to both its extensive gardens (with over 100 varieties of roses) and its particularly successful and efficient farming practices which drew farmers from the eastern states for farm tours.
1931: Home Stead Was Built

Dalmore remains one of the oldest continually producing homesteads in the Blackwood River Valley. The currently standing main homestead was built in 1931. It continues to function as the central homestead to this day.
1936

In 1936, as Chairman of the Bridgetown Roads Board, WP Scott laid the foundation stone for the Bridgetown Town Hall. He was killed in a road accident returning from Bunbury on August 24, 1939.
1970:

The Scott’s continued to farm at Dalmore after the passing of WP. The family eventually left Dalmore in the late 1970’s. The farm passed through two more farming families, the Walters and the Nields, before being purchased by its current owners, the Hartigan family, in 1999.
2012

In 2012, Emilie Hartigan and Danny Abbiss made the decision to convert the old Shearing Shed into a large studio space for Emilie’s yoga and wellbeing business. The Shed was the venue for Emilie and Danny’s wedding reception in 2013 and though it was never the original plan, across the years as word spread, Dalmore began to host weddings regularly. In 2019, Emilie and Danny made the decision to shift focus towards weddings and events and the rest is history.
